چکیده

In-situ soil assessment such as field compaction can often be a helpful approach in help determining suitability for certain crops. In this study, an was conducted to characterize the Soil Penetration Resistance (SPR) planted sago palm (Metroxylon spp.) plantation at different growth of rosette and trunking stages under mineral soils ecosystem. SPR in-situ would provide beneficial guideline site indicator land before establishing plantations, especially on soils. The study Mukah, Sarawak, with two sites Oya Talau. stage Talau were stage, respectively. types both consisted Gley (clayey) significant development subsoil horizon. measurements taken using Hasegawa-type cone penetrometer. SSSED more compact than river research station from shallow depth subsurface ranged between 7.5 46.8 J cm-1, while 1.9 cm-1 11.1 cm-1. Although there difference 0-20 cm 80-100 depths, are considered suitable areas plantations. Using practical convenient assessing cultivation, identify potential establishment cultivation area fundamental tools landowners preparing their future cultivation.

Investigation of genetic and morphological variation in the sago palm (Metroxylon sagu; Arecaceae) in Papua New Guinea.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS The genetic and morphological variation in the sago palm (Metroxylon sagu, Arecaceae) in Papua New Guinea (PNG) was investigated. METHODS Amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) was used to investigate the genetic structure of 76 accessions of M. sagu, collected in seven wild and semi-wild stands in PNG. KEY RESULTS An analysis of ten quantitative morphological var...
